SUMMER CONSERVATORY 2022
SESSION 1: JUNE 20 - JULY 1
SESSION 2: JULY 11 - JULY 22
SESSION 3: JULY 25 - AUGUST 5
South Pasadena Theatre Workshop invites local performers entering grades 8-12 to a summer workshop series by Education Director Schuyler Mastain and Musical Director Chloé Cavelier featuring acting, movement, and vocal exercises. This fun, confidence-building workshop series is the perfect opportunity for students to make new friends and deepen their talents. Each session will culminate in an informal performance for family and friends to display students' progress.
Whether students are preparing for collegiate auditions or just wanting to partake in the joy of performing with other passionate theatre kids, this summer workshop has something for everyone! By the end of each session, each student will have experience with dramatic scene study, acting and movement exercises used by professionals in the field, vocal techniques in individual and ensemble musical numbers, and performance in front of an audience. Students will receive a video file of their performance as well as a printed headshot.
Performers of all experience levels are welcome. There is no dance component to this workshop.

Schuyler Mastain is an educator and theatre artist living in South Pasadena. After graduating from the Professional Actor Training Program at UNC Chapel Hill where he got his MFA in Acting, Schuyler moved to LA and produced three of his own plays (The Sower, 2018; Bushwick, 2019; and Handsome Man, 2021). He has taught High School English & Drama in Singapore, Bangkok, and Los Angeles and loves giving young people the opportunity to explore their talent, creativity, and imagination on the stage.
Chloé Cavelier is a South Pasadena High School alumna and longtime lover of musical theater. Her first on-stage performance in Fiddler on the Roof in elementary school ignited her love for the power of storytelling through song and it is a passion that has flourished ever since. She strongly believes that anyone with a voice has an opportunity to explore emotions, stories, and the complexities of life through musical theatre, and she loves working with performers of all experience levels (including those who have never sung anywhere outside of their shower). With collegiate training in music and choral performance and over a decade of experience as a performing singer, pianist/accompanist, and youth music teacher, she is thrilled to join the South Pasadena Theatre Workshop (SPTW) team. When she is not working with SPTW, she is pursuing her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Chloé lives in South Pasadena with her cat Theo.
